Four (Modulated)

5 November 2016

Continuing a series of works influenced by John Cage’s 1989 composition Four, for string quartet, Four (Modulated) is an installation where sound is transformed into light, and back into sound again.

Pure tones are modulated by an LED before being converted back into sound via solar panels. Each light beams one part of the quartet, allowing the viewer to alter the arrangement by obscuring the light with their hand.
